Transgender and nonbinary people worldwide are under threat.
TransArchive is a project to collect and preserve resources for and by our community. We are a group of volunteers who are working to build a comprehensive archive drawn from existing resources, and to create new resources where none exist.
In the run up to World War 2, Nazi Germany specifically targeted LGBTQ+ people. The first books burned in the infamous book burnings were from the library of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, also known as the Hirschfeld Institute. As a consequence, the institute was forced to close, and its library was destroyed. Since much of this information existed nowhere else, it was lost forever, setting back the cause of LGBTQ+ rights by decades.
This is happening again. The Trump administration is using its power to perform a similar systematic informational purge aimed at removing any digital history of LGBTQ+ people from accessibility. This is not just a US problem, but a global one. In many countries, LGBTQ+ people are being targeted by their governments, and the information that is vital to our community is being systematically erased. In the US, the Trump administration has already begun to remove information from government websites, and to block access to resources.
The TransArchive project aims to rapidly redress this by archiving information that is vital to our community, and preserving it for current and future generations. We aim to achieve this by mirroring existing resources, and will in the future also create new resources where none currently exist.
We aim to host this information in multiple jurisdictions around the world, using technical infrastructure that is resistant to censorship. We will also work with other organizations to ensure that this information is preserved in multiple locations, and that it is accessible to all.

You can optionally sign up for an account by clicking on the icon at the top right. This is only necessary if you want to become a volunteer moderator.
If you are very concerned about your accesses being monitored, consider accessing transarchive.eu (and any sites we link to) via Tor.
